10+ Events to Enjoy on Celebrate Trails Day

Step into spring and spring into action on Saturday, April 27, by spending time outside on the Circuit Trails during Celebrate Trails Day!

Hosted on the fourth Saturday of April, Celebrate Trails Day is an annual spring celebration of America’s trails. Started by Rails to Trails Conservancy in 2013, the celebration encourages people across the country to get outside and enjoy the nation’s exceptional trails and trail systems.

In the Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region, we’re fortunate to have access to one of America’s largest trail networks. The Circuit Trails is a network of more than 411 multiuse trails weaving through the urban, suburban and rural areas of the region, offering scenic routes and providing safe spaces to get around and recreate that foster a sense of community.

How you choose to participate in Celebrate Trails Day is entirely up to you—walk, run, ride or roll, the possibilities for fun are endless. Spending time outside on your local trails demonstrates the value of these spaces to decision-makers, whose support is vital to securing funding that will build new trails and maintain those that are currently available.

We’re committed to completing 500 miles of Circuit Trails by 2025, and with a little more than a year to make it happen, we need your help! You can spring into action and call on your local elected officials to prioritize funding and the development of the Circuit Trails network.

As you gear up to celebrate the trails you love on Saturday, April 27, check out some of the events you can attend #OnTheCircuit that are hosted by members of the Circuit Trails Coalition across the region. From cleanups to guided bike rides, birding walks, live music and crafts, there’s something planned for Celebrate Trails Day for everyone! Or, if you want to create your own adventure, you can view our itinerary videos for some inspiration.
