The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadephia will host the second Vision Zero Conference for Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson University, presented by Uber. This year's conference's theme is "Creating Roadways That Respect Human Dignity."
Mayor Kenney has made a commitment to reduce traffic deaths to zero by 2030 and has established a Vision Zero Task Force to produce an action plan by mid-March 2016. This outcome is a result of the advocacy of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and other organizations who developed a Better Mobility platform as part of the mayoral primary in spring 2015.
Invited panelists include speakers from AAA and AARP; Kelley Yemen, the City of Philadelphia Complete Streets Director and Roy Gothie, PennDOT's Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator. The afternoon session will feature recommended street designs prepared by engineering firms in response to walkability audits of three intersections conducted by community members and Streets Department staff.
